Lithium Presentation About Lithium Click to view, PDF, 6.4 MB |
First discovered in 1817, Lithium is found primarily in
brine pools worldwide and generally as a byproduct from potash and rare metal
mines. First produced commercially in 1923, Nevada USA remain the sole producing
area of lithium in North America for the last 50 years (Chemetall-Foote Silver
Peak production facility).
In the last 2-3 years, demand in lithium has been spiking primarily of the
worlds recognition of lithium-ion battery technology. As electronic gadgets
become smaller, lithium has become the main component of choice for lithium-ion
batteries which boasts longer battery life, lack of memory effect, and a better
energy-to-weight ratio.

With oil peaking to $150/barrel in the summer of 2008 and scarcity of oil a
constant concern, electric vehicles powered through lithium-ion batteries become
an accepted norm in society. Major car manufacturers, led by Toyota and Honda,
have fully embraced lithium-ion EV as their next major revolution.

Toyota is announcing 1 million hybrid cars for 2010, Warren Buffet has inveted
in BYD Batteries, Honda Insight is the number 1 selling car in Japan for May
2009, and Nissan has a highly publicized joint venture with BetterPlace.com to
build EV-vehicle-grid powered by windpower.

The current lithium demand is approximately 100,000 tonne per year. By 2015 the
projected demand is 400% increase, quickly outpacing current production levels.
International Lithium has both brine and pegmatite-type lithium projects -
ensuring flexiblity in the potential of both type of deposits. Currently there
is no publicly traded shares of ILC, please check with TNR Gold for the official
record date where registered TNR shareholders would receive 1 ILC shares for
every 4 TNR shares held.
